Statements von Cole Klubek zum ersten Doppelwochenende in Bergkamen
Hello, I believe on Saturday night we came out and played a very experienced team and we played them extremely well. Our goalie kept us in the game the entire 60 minutes. We were out shot 63-14 and the final score was only 2-0. We had a few opportunities to score on the breakout and we need to work on capitalizing on those chances. Sunday morning you could see where the opponents experience came in to play.
They changed up their gameplan completely from the previous night and were going with different tactics and were able to capitalize on their opportunities. Once they scored the first 3 goals our team started to feel down and some key players were hurt. The final score was 9-0 after being outshot 75-11.
Going into the weekend I said we will find out what we need to work on and what we are good at and I believe we did just that. We have a very young team which is good because they get more opportunities for growth but bad because they do not have the hockey knowledge and experience that older players have. We are very good in a few areas and we need to work on communication, the powerplay and penalty kill, as well as breaking out of the zone. I think the future is bright for the Kurpfalz Ladies as we played a very good team and we hung in there. Looking forward to another tough test with Berlin in a few weeks.
